AN AWARD-winning theatre company has teamed up with Basingstoke Youth Theatre to bring their creations to life.

As part of the Proteus Creation Space’s summer of love, the critically acclaimed Little Soldier Productions has teamed up with Basingstoke Youth Theatre to deliver Revolution.

The performance will feature plenty of audience interaction as the ‘LOVE brigade’ has arrived in town and would like to invite everyone to join their team.

During the session, the brigade will share their ‘LOVE’ philosophy by the means of songs, outbursts of physical theatre and a series of demonstrations. Woven throughout the performance are intimate confessions, future hopes and expectations.

The story-telling process has been a journey of discovery for both sides as they prepare for the show, which comes to Queen Mary’s College’s Central Studio on June 30.

Mercé Ribot from Little Soldier said: “We have positively challenged their way of working throughout the collaboration and, in turn, they have reminded us of the hopes and expectations of life at their age.

“At Little Soldier we use games and improvisation as a starting point to create each production, which means the group have come up with a lot material by playing in the room and utilising their own skills to serve the project.”

In working with Little Soldier, the youth theatre has been given freedom to explore their creativity for the performance.

Phoebe Jacobs, 15, from Basingstoke, has been a member of the youth theatre for five years said: “I’ve loved having the freedom to create our own script, especially as the group all get on so well.

“It’s been a completely different experience to anything before, and I feel that I have improved as an actor and grown in confidence overall.”

The LOVE brigade will be looking for new recruits on the night. For more information and tickets go to qmc.ac.uk/revolution.
