A BASINGSTOKE pub is all set to open brand new accommodation, offering its wedding parties the chance to stay on after their celebration.
Barton's Mill Pub and Dining, in Old Basing, is transforming an former office block nearby into 12 rooms, following a significant investment from the pub's owners Wadworth.
The Barn was previously occupied by a business which has now relocated, and the owners of Barton's Mill took the opportunity to expand the business by providing overnight accommodation for wedding parties, business workers or visitors to the area.
The pub is located next to the River Loddon and is a converted mill set in beautiful countryside.
It runs numerous events throughout the year, as well as a popular weekly quiz night.
Ray Turnbull, manager at Barton's Mill, said: "We looked into the idea of having accommodation around six months ago and thought there was a niche in the market in Basingstoke. We didn't have a plan at that particular stage and we thought we might have difficulties getting planning permission.
"But we have five acres of land and there is an office block next to us that came up for lease so we made some enquiries and some people came from our head office and the deal was done."
The Barn is currently being refurbished and reconstructed and the rooms are set to open on July 9.
All the rooms are large doubles with en suite, and outside there are around 40 car parking spaces.
"It's quite niche and rural," explained Mr Turnbull, adding: "We have weddings at Barton's Mill so there will be some superior rooms for the bride and groom."
Guests looking to stay can expect to pay around £110, which includes breakfast, and bookings are already open through
Bookings.com or on the pub's website.
"We are very excited," said Mr Turnbull.
"It's a new venture. Barton's Mill has always been a really successful pub and the rooms are the icing on the cake. It's something we have talked about for the last few years and
now it's all coming together."
Mr Turnbull is planning to hold a few open days for invited guests to look around the new accommodation, which will include local businesses.
