PEOPLE living in Kempshott have given their views on the future of the area.

Working closely with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, residents have helped publish the Kempshott Community Plan and it has been sent out to houses in the ward.

The Kempshott Community Plan 2018 looks at how positive changes can be made to improve the area.

The plan was created after extensive engagement with residents and consultation with stakeholders. It identifies a clear vision for a neighbourly, active and engaged community; a high-quality environment with green spaces; a safe and sustainable transport network and homes and community facilities which meet the needs and lifestyles of all residents.

First initiated in 2015 when a postcard survey was distributed to every household within Kempshott, followed by a wellbeing questionnaire specifically for senior residents and then a full survey to every household.

The main issues and interests from the survey responses have focused on traffic and congestion, cycling and green spaces.

Cabinet member for communities and community safety at the borough council, Cllr Simon Bound said: "The Kempshott Community Plan marks a real milestone. Residents have identified their needs and aspirations within their neighbourhood and this has been reflected in the wider community engagement.

“The council is pleased to have supported and encouraged residents to help to identify the key opportunities and priorities for their area and will continue to work with the community to help to bring about these changes.

“It’s clear from the local responses that residents in Kempshott love where they live. The Community Plan highlights the positive feedback received, which supports good access to green spaces; a safe transport network and a strong desire to live in a friendly and supportive community.”
