A MAIN road in Basingstoke has reopened in both directions following a three-vehicle collision near Basingstoke hospital.
Firefighters from Basingstoke were called to the incident in Aldermaston Road at 8.46am, where a crash between two cars and a van has blocked part of the road.
Two people had to be cut from their vehicles, as a result of the incident.
The A340 Aldermaston Road will be closed both ways between Basingstoke and Tadley for the next couple of hours.
Diversions are in place with motorist being advised to use Cranes Road, Elms Road Sherbourne St John through to Basingtsoke, or the A339 towards Basingstoke/Newbury.
A spokesperson for South Central Ambulance Service said: "Fire were required to help get the two drivers out of the vehicle and both have been taken to Basingstoke hospital, for further assessment and treatment. Neither patient’s injuries were thought to be serious or life-threatening."
#Basingstoke Due to the accident and road closure at Aldermaston Road there is heavy congestion on and around Aldermaston Roundabout. This is causing serious delays to our 4, 5, and #Link services. Our apologies.
