SMOKE filling the sky seen from across Basingstoke on Monday afternoon came from controlled burning, the fire service has confirmed.
Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service said the smoke came from controlled burning on private land and the landowner had notified the fire service beforehand about the planned burning.
As a result, no firefighters were called to the scene.
