PERSIMMON Homes have come under fire once again for selling an ‘incomplete’ house.

The Sherborne Fields development in Basingstoke has been the subject of several previous articles in The Gazette, due to delays that have gone on for months after prospective tenants were due to move in.

Eunice and Babs Kuyinu were originally due to move into their three-bedroom, £289,500 property in July 2016.

However, it was January 27 the couple received the keys.

And upon entering their freshly built home, they discovered problems that they didn’t expect from their brand new property.

Poor sealing of pipes, missing dishwasher doors and broken panelling at the front of the house have all been a problem from day one. In addition to that, the fencing in the garden, which was originally due to be a brick wall, was completed in wood.

Mrs Kuyinu has accused the property developer of giving them an incomplete house.

“It’s really frustrating that they have given us a house that is of such poor quality.”

Mrs Kuyinu said. “We were really pleased to finally get the keys, but I’m not satisfied with how it has been handed to us, it’s like it hasn’t been finished.”

The couple put together a long list of the complaints they had about the property, but so far, Persimmon have not fixed the issues.

Mrs Kuyinu said: “When you invest so much money in buying a property, you don’t expect to have this type of problem.

“The way they have dealt with our problems has been really unsatisfactory as well. I would advise that anyone trying to move into a new property not go through Persimmon Homes as we’ve had a really depressing experience. They don’t seem to care about all the problems we’ve had with them.”

Problems with the actual property are not the only ones that they have experienced.

The couple say they have faced additional charges such as a builder’s documentation fee of £180. “It’s so upsetting to be charged more with surprise costs we weren’t expecting,” Mrs Kuyinu said.

A Persimmon Homes Thames Valley spokesman said: “We have been in touch with Mr and Mrs Kuyinu, and sent them a copy of the legally binding pre-reservation form they signed which covers, among other things, service charges and legal documentation fees. Any defects with the property will be dealt with by us in accordance with our warranty.”
