TEMPORARY lane closures will be put in place across Basingstoke later in the month as part of a £75,000 South East Water scheme.

The water company will be laying 447 metres of new pipe across a section of Winchester Road and Hatch Warren roundabout from February 20.

The closure will affect one lane along Winchester Road approaching Hatch Warren Roundabout from the M3, around Hatch Warren roundabout and along a section of Winchester Road between Hatch Warren roundabout and Kempshott Roundabout.

Stephen Bundock, project manager at South East Water, said: “The safety of motorists and our workforce is our top priority when carrying out work which is why we will need to have temporary lane closure in operation along Winchester Road and Hatch Warren Roundabout while we complete this work.

The works will take around 12 weeks to complete.

Mr Bundock continued: “We appreciate roadworks can be frustrating which is why we have been working closely with the highways department at Hampshire County Council and will have phased lane closures as we work along Winchester Road and around Hatch Warren Roundabout. This will keep traffic flowing through the area and keep disruption to a minimum.”
