AN INSPIRATIONAL local author is encouraging more people to come forward and share their stories to inspire others.

Anita Narayan has seen her book Breaking Free become an Amazon best-seller and now aims to help others who have been through difficult situations in life like she had.

The book is about the true story of the South View resident’s journey of near self-destruction and how she survived it and learned to love herself again.

Since the book’s official launch at the Red Lion Hotel, in the Top of The Town in May, many people have told Miss Narayan how powerful the book is, and now the author wants to hear others tell their stories of adversity.

The 53-year-old told The Gazette: “I have overcome my struggles so there must be others who have a story to tell.

“There is more to life than just surviving, you hear so much doom and gloom in the media, so I want to hear the positives in people.

“The response to the book has been quite overwhelming as originally I had never imagined writing my story down, but people have been so positive about it.”

Miss Narayan, who used to play for Basingstoke Town Ladies, now holds classes to help coach others into achieving success, wellbeing and fulfilment in their life.

As well as this, Miss Narayan is looking to set up a podcast to help people’s inspirational stories reach a wider audience.

“I don’t just want people to hear my story, I want others to tell their’s and inspire more people,” added the author.

“I have met some amazing people in Basingstoke who have some incredible stories to tell.

“The plan with the podcast is to set up a bit of a network and hopefully inspire more people to tell their tales.”

As well as becoming a best-seller in the UK, the author has also had success with the book over in the USA in the last couple of months.
