GAMERS were treated to a delivery service with a twist when they received their copies of the newly released Mirror’s Edge Catalyst.

Basingstoke based parkour group 3run, took to the streets of London to carry out a ‘parkourier’ service, as part of a giveaway for the games launch.

People who follow the group on Twitter were invited to use the hashtag #MirrorsEdgeCatalyst with their location, with the chosen few seeing members of the 3run crew flying off objects and doing flips in the capital to deliver the game.

One of the groups founding members, Chase Armitage, of Hathaway Gardens, Chineham said “It was really good fun for us to do."

“For a lot of people they never really see parkour in person, just the stuff on TV and YouTube, and as the game features a lot of parkour elements we thought it was fitting to do something a little bit unique," said the 30-year-old.

Chase and his brother Cole began practising parkour when he was 15-years-old, as he wanted to emulate the moves of Bruce Lee.

Now, the former Basingstoke College of Technology student has made a career from his passion, having worked on several Hollywood films, music videos and TV programmes.

The world renowned free-runner, is looking at passing on his wisdom, and has opened the first purpose built parkour academy in Stephenson Road.

“I believe anyone can learn parkour, it just takes practise and confidence and that is why we set up the academy so people can learn from some of the world’s best,” Chase told The Gazette

“It is incredible how far the sport has come, when I started there was no YouTube or anything like that, now there is so much exposure it is great.”

For those who don’t fancy risking their bodies performing death defying stunts, the Mirror’s Edge game is a very life like replacement.

Chase added: “I couldn’t get over how life like it was.

“There is a move I do all the time in real life hanging from some scaffolding and swinging to the next gap, and in the game – just like real life – your timing has to be absolutely perfect.”
