AN UNDERPASS which links Norn Hill to the town centre is flooded.
The underpass, in Basing View, which provides access for pedestrians from South View to the town, has been blocked by the water since last week.
The underpass is a vital route for those walking to and from the town centre, via Basing View, and is currently the only route into town.
The construction work taking place to build the new John Lewis at home and Waitrose store has resulted in the other exit from the underpass being shut off since last November.
Pedestrians would have to walk around the entire Basing View business park loop in order to access the town centre from Norn Hill without using the underpass.
Workers from Hampshire County Council's highways department were working at the underpass today.
The council has not yet responded to a request for a comment.
