PART of a major north Hampshire road closed this morning after a car overturned near a service station.

The crash took place at around 6.55am this morning on the westbound A303 near Popham Services.

Police said it involved a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which turned over on to its roof, and a black Vauxhall Corsa.

Ambulances did attend the crash site but none of the injuries are thought to be life-threatening, police said.

A spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance Service said one man was treated for injuries at the scene, and that an ambulance and rapid response vehicle was dispatched there.

One lane of the carriageway was closed while recovery of the vehicle took place, which caused traffic to build up as far back as junction 8 of the M3.

The road was cleared just before 9am this morning.
