PEOPLE will be able to take part in a host of activities at the Top of The Town this bank holiday weekend.

Basingstoke’s historic heart will be playing host to a range of outdoor activities over the weekend which is being kicked off with a larger market selling plants and flowers, cheeses and ladies fashion items on Saturday.

On Sunday, the “Chocolate Factory” family event, which has been organised by Proteus Theatre Company, independent event management team Big Adventures and Starfish Design and Marketing, will take place outside the Tea Bar and the Willis Museum.

Starting from 10.30am, children will be able to make their own egg-shaped biscuits, design their own sweets and take part in an Easter egg trail.

Children will also have the chance to see baby rabbits, chicks and ducklings at the “Story of the Egg” farm and can watch the “Great Easter Balloon Show” by ScratchBuilt Productions.

On Easter Monday, a 15-stall vintage and handmade market organised by local business VJ Vintage, who will soon be launching a new vintage shop in Church Street called Vintage Treasures with the support of BCoT and the Basingstoke Town Centre Improvement Programme, will take place.

A pop up tea room and live music will also entertain visitors and the Hampshire Cultural Trust will open up the Willis Museum especially for the day.

Town Centre Project Manager Chas Bradfield said: “I’m really excited about the Easter weekend in the Top of the Town.

"There’s a fantastic range of activities on offer that are particularly ideal for local families to enjoy and it’s a great way to kick start our 2015 town centre events programme and showcase our changing market offer.”
