A DISABLED racing driver from Basingstoke has been appointed as an ambassador for The Mobility Roadshow.

Aaron Morgan, 24, was only 15 when he broke his spine in a motorcross accident. But Aaron did not let the devastating injury slow him down, and he is currently the only disabled driver to compete in the Production BMW Championships.

Now, he can add the title of ambassador for The Mobility Roadshow to his list of achievements.

Organised by the the charity Mobility Choice, the event is aimed at people looking to regain or maintain independence, and showcases a wide range of mobility products.

The event, which will be held in Donington Park, Derby from June 25- 27, will also give visitors the opportunity to test and compare wheelchair accessible and adapted cars.

Aaron said: “Starting motorcross at the age of seven gave me my first taste of racing. I raced very successfully for eight years until an accident whilst practising left me paralysed from the waist down. However, when I was in hospital I quickly realised that there was a huge amount I could achieve and was determined not to let my disability hold me back.

“I now work in IT sales but my main passion is still motor racing – I have competed in the Production BMW Championship since 2011 and will be moving to the BMW Compact Cup this year.

“I am very honoured to have been selected as a Mobility Roadshow Ambassador for the 2015 event.

“It promises to deliver an amazing and unique day out for all visitors, especially when you consider people will be able to test drive accessible cars around the race track – an experience not to be missed.

“It’s an amazing opportunity for young people who are looking for their first adapted car.

“I will be at the show and really look forward to helping other young people with disabilities get in the driving seat.”
