MORE than 400 villagers attended an exhibition to help decide where housing should be built.
Residents packed into St Luke’s Hall, in Overton, for the consultation event organised by the Neighbourhood Planning Group.
Those attending looked at sites shortlisted for housing development in Overton, the developers’ plans for each site and three different scenarios to choose from.
Developers were also there to discuss the plans and answer questions before villagers voted for the scenarios they believe would be best for Overton.
The three scenarios on display each delivered 154 houses.
The first would see 70 houses at Two Gate Lane, 55 at a site west of Sapley Lane Playing Fields and 29 spread across four small sites.
The second scenario had 125 houses at Two Gate Lane and 29 at four small sites, while the third would see 125 at Sapley Lane Playing Fields and at a site west of Pond Close, and 29 at four small sites.
A fourth scenario was to make a different proposal.
Of those who voted, the first scenario was the most popular receiving 39 per cent (148 votes), which was closely followed by the second option with 31 per cent (118) of the votes.
The third scenario gained 17 per cent (67 votes) and the final scenario had 13 per cent (51 votes).
The Neighbourhood Planning Group will now recommend the first scenario in the final draft of the Neighbourhood Plan.
