A TRUCK driver has excelled in a test of endurance by completing the equivalent of 30 half marathons in just 22 days.
Andy Warner, of Wayside Road, Winklebury, Basingstoke, beat some of the country’s top endurance athletes to complete the challenge on his indoor rowing machine.
The 48-year-old, a member of the online Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club, took on 50 indoor rowers from around the world who were set the challenge of completing the distance in 45 days.
And such was Andy’s commitment, the truck driver finished in just 22 days to claim the title. He said: “It was great. It became a challenge between me and another rower to finish it first.
“When we got into the last week of November, I did three half-marathons back-to-back and on the final weekend I did two more, and on the last day I did one-and-a-half marathons to win.
“It was quite hard but if I have a mindset to do something, then I will do it.”
Mr Warner said he would fit in his rowing each day before he started his work at around midday.
The father-of-two said he only returned to the sport early last year as a way of getting in shape.
And his efforts are set to continue. He now plans to target a world record for endurance rowing this year.
