INTERNATIONAL opera singers will perform in Overton to help raise money for a swimming club.

Singing for Swimming will take place on Saturday, February 7, at 7.30pm in St Mary’s Church, in aid of Lordsfield Swimming Club, based at Overton Primary School.

Overton-born Thomas Birch and his wife Amy Corkery will fly from Venice to perform a range of songs including I dreamed a dream, All I ask of you and O sole mio.

Thomas spent four years touring the world with the renowned classical crossover group The Ten Tenors.

He has also performed at The Melbourne Cup, on The Oprah Winfrey Show and at various international sporting events.

In March, he will play the title tenor role of Don Jose in Carmen with Opera Integra in London.

Amy has appeared as a soloist in the Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and in 2012 she understudied the title role of Handel’s Rodelinda.

Tickets for their Overton performance cost £15 per adult, which includes wine and canapés, or £10 without refreshments, and £5 for under-12s.

They are available in advance from Overton Fireplaces and Caviste, in Overton.
