A BASINGSTOKE gym could relocate if plans are approved by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

CrossFit Basingstoke, currently based at the Basepoint Centre, in Stroudley Road, has applied to change the use of units 7 and 8 in Joule Road, on the Houndmills Industrial Estate.

The application says that the gym is only open for specific periods of the day for classes. These take place at 6.45am, noon and 5pm, Monday to Friday, and between 9am and noon, on Saturdays and Sundays.

The application says: “CrossFit Basingstoke is a specialised facility and is different to a mainstream gym.

“It does not rely on machines but functional exercises such as Olympic lifts, pull ups, press ups, squats, kettlebell and barbell work and other functional movements which will teach your body to move the way it is designed.”

It adds: “The proposal is appropriate to its location and will contribute to sustaining the local economy and contribute to creating a better Basingstoke.”
