A SCHOOL in Sherfield-on-Loddon has raised thousands of pounds for a local good cause.
Pupils, parents and staff at Sherfield School have drummed up £6,000 for Sebastian’s Action Trust over the course of a year, holding a number of fundraising events including a Christmas fair and Valentine’s ball.
The charity runs The Bluebells home in North Waltham, a respite home for seriously-ill children and their families.
Greg Meakin, head of the prep school at Sherfield School, said: “We are very pleased to support the important work of Sebastian’s Action Trust and thank everyone at Sherfield for helping us to achieve this.”
Jim Fyfe, regional development officer at the charity, said: “I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped raise a remarkable amount of money. It was a pleasure to hear about their fundraising efforts.
“This staggering amount of money will go towards the running of The Bluebells and will go that extra mile to help families of seriously-ill and life-limited children.”
The school also had crates of fresh flowers from its harvest festival delivered to Applewood care home, in Sherfield-on-Loddon.
