SIX new homes could be built in Newnham if plans are approved by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

Cast Contracting Limited has applied to the borough council for permission to demolish a building at Highview Business Park, off Old School Road.

The applicant proposes a mix of two two-bedroom homes, two three-bedroom homes and two four-bedroom homes and 20 car parking spaces will be available for residents at the development.

The application says: “Until recently, the site was occupied by Cast Contracting Limited, a waterproofing, tanking and water management system specialist.

“However, the company, who were only using part of the site, moved to Lodge Farm Business Park in North Warnborough in order to occupy suitable premises.

“The usefulness of retaining the site for employment purposes is not considered to be the most sustainable option for the site.”

It adds: “Discussions with the occupiers of neighbouring properties also prefer a residential use.”

A decision on the proposal is expected within 12 weeks.
