A MAN has suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car near a Basingstoke supermarket this morning.
The crash took place in Worting Road, Brookvale, at 7.24am this morning, near the Morrisons supermarket.
It involved a pedestrian and a white Ford Focus.
Police said the pedestrian, an adult male, suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken by ambulance to Basingstoke hospital.
A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Trust said the man was in his 60s and had "potentially life-threatening" injuries.
Two ambulances were sent to the scene.
The driver of the white Ford Focus was not injured.
Police closed the road in both directions between the junctions of Lawrencedale Court and Attwood Close.
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Whitchurch Roads Policing Unit by calling 101.
