A TEENAGER was freed from a car after hitting a tree along a country road.

Firefighters from Basingstoke fire station were called to Vyne Road, in Sherborne St John at 9pm last night, where the Ford Fiesta had hit a tree side on.

The driver, a man in his teens, was trapped in the vehicle and firefighters spent around two-and-a-half hours cutting him out, working through a planned strike.

Two passengers, a man and woman, had managed to get out of the car before the firefighters arrived.

All three were taken to hospital.

Well done to the crew for making the decision to turn out for this one during their industrial action. Such integrity needs better rewards.
