AN OFFICE in Basingstoke town centre could be transformed into 10 new homes.
Applecourt Limited, which has bought Edison House, in Winchester Road from Scottish and Southern Energy, has applied to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council for permission to demolish the current building, and to build 10 new homes on the land.
The developer has proposed a mix of three, two-bedroom flats, one one-bedroom house and six three-bedroom homes.
The application says: “Overall, the proposed scheme amounts to a sustainable development for which there is a positive presumption in favour of granting planning permission.
“The development would help to increase the supply of housing in the borough and reduce the existing ‘serious and significant’ shortfall and would not result in demonstrable harm.”
The application is set to be decided by October 6.
