POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an assault on a young man in Basingstoke.

On Monday, May 5, the man was assaulted whilst walking along Soper Grove into Lyford Road, South View.

He was not injured, but had his white Samsung Tablet 3 stolen during the incident, which happened between 8pm and 9pm.

The offender is described as white, in his early 20's, about 5ft 8 - 5ft 9 tall and of a slim build.

Anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the assault or saw a man matching the description of the offender is asked to call 101 and quote 44140158745.
