YURTS and tipis could be built around two artificial lakes in an attempt to bring “glamping”, or luxury camping, to woodland near Hook.
The Saffney Champness Trust Corporation wants to set up a summer retreat on land in Odiham Road, Heckfield, to attract city dwellers.
It has submitted a request to receive advice from Hart District Council before it submits a formal application.
In a letter to the district council, the applicant said the yurts, tipis and canvas lodges will be dismantled and stored off-site during the winter. An administration centre, a toilet and shower block, and two car parking areas will also be built on the site.
The letter continued: “The proposed development will support the continued growth of “glamping”, bringing indulgence to this countryside location, for visitors seeking a little refuge in nature.”
