A BASINGSTOKE junior school has been told it needs to improve by Ofsted.
The education watchdog said of Kings Furlong Junior School: “Achievement over time has not been good enough. Pupils make slower progress in writing.”
It added: “Teaching in lessons is too slow to enable pupils to make rapid progress.”
However, the behaviour and safety of pupils was graded as “good”.
Inspectors also noted that since Charles Applegate was appointed as headteacher in September 2012, he has “increased the drive to improve the quality of teaching.”
The last time the school was inspected, in November 2010, it was graded as “good”.
