A SOLAR farm could replace a private airfield on a site in Hook that is adjacent to the M3.

Ben Lewis, associate director at Aspire Planning, has applied to Hart District Council to see if an environmental impact assessment is necessary for the site in Holt Lane.

Documents submitted state the development would be a four megawatt solar farm with buildings and improvements to access, although it does not say how many panels the farm would contain.

It added: “The orientation of the proposed panels in combination with the distances to the nearest residential properties dictates that glint and glare would be negligible.

“The level of the field in relation to the M3 would ensure that glint and glare should also not be an issue for road users.”

Hart District Council will decide on the request by Thursday, September 19.
