A MAN has died and another is seriously injured following a head-on crash on the A339 between Basingstoke and Alton this morning.
The crash took place just after 7am outside Hillside Nurseries, near Alton, and involved a black Peugeot 307, travelling towards Basingstoke, and a grey VW Passat, travelling towards Alton.
The driver of the Peugeot, a 25-year-old man from Gosport, died at the scene.
His front seat passenger, a man also in his 20s, was taken to Basingstoke hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The driver and front seat passenger of the Passat sustained minor injuries.
No arrests have been made.
The road is expected to remain closed until 1pm for recovery work and for investigators to examine the scene.
