A TEAM of Basingstoke freerunners leapt over stairwells, jumped from balconies and scaled the side of a ship for an eye-catching advertisement feature.

International stars 3RUN were asked to perform in Thomson Cruises’ advert, which shows off the company’s makeover of its cruise ship Thomson Dream.

Filmed against the stunning backdrop of the Caribbean, 3RUN pushed their bodies to the limit as they flipped over the swimming pool, vaulted tables in the restaurant and even recreated the ship’s flag 20ft above deck.

The Basingstoke group, who have worked on Hollywood blockbusters including Harry Potter, and whose videos have been watched by millions on YouTube, used their jaw-dropping stunts to give Thomson customers a unique look at the ship.

The advert on YouTube has already been watched nearly 20,000 times.

Chase Armitage, from 3RUN, said: “The new-look Thomson Dream provided the ideal freerunning playground for us to create some never-done-before stunts that show off both the ship and the skills of our team.

“In true action-film style, we’ve tried to create content that will entertain every generation.”

Fraser Ellacott, managing director of Thomson Cruises, said: “We wanted to do something completely different to showcase the renovations.

“Partnering with 3RUN gave us the opportunity to highlight the multi-million-pound make-overs in a truly entertaining way.

“We’ve moved towards a more contemporary look and feel on board both Thomson Dream and Celebration with refurbished cabins, revamped restaurants and bars, and a luxurious spa and wanted to show it off in an equally modern way.”

As reported in Thursday’s Gazette, the 3RUN team have just opened an indoor academy at Houndmills, in Basingstoke, where people can practise and learn the art of freerunning.
