A NIGHT of All That Jazz and Sensational Soul in support of three good causes – that’s the entertaining offer from a special concert at The Anvil on Saturday, March 5.

The Clive Fortune Big Band and soul singer Natasha Watts are the shining Basingstoke stars on a double bill that will deliver an evening of fabulous musical entertainment and a great boost to this year’s Mayor’s Charity Appeal.

Tickets are now on sale for the concert which is taking place in support of Ark Cancer Centre Charity, Inspero and Basingstoke Multicultural Forum – the three charities that will benefit from the appeal being championed by Basingstoke and Deane Mayor, councillor Anne Court.

The Clive Fortune Big Band is an 18-piece big band performing jazz standards and big band classics. Their wide repertoire includes the much-loved music of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Cole Porter.

Clive’s band have performed at many local events, but this is a rare opportunity to see and hear them perform at Basingstoke’s premier music venue.

Clive, whose band regularly supports local charities, said: “The band and I are delighted to be involved in this charity appeal concert. We are looking forward to performing at The Anvil, which is a great venue for people to enjoy our music while supporting these very good local causes.”

This year is definitely going to be a big one for critically-acclaimed singer/songwriter Natasha.

Last year saw Natasha support Motown legend Gladys Knight on her UK tour, which included a show at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

In April, Natasha is embarking on her own UK tour and releasing her latest album, and performing at The Anvil is another milestone.

Natasha said: “I have performed at many great venues in the UK and Europe but I have long wanted to add The Anvil to that list, so I’m really looking forward to this concert.

“My band will be performing with me, and I hope that many local fans of my music will come along to enjoy what is bound to be a special evening, and also to support this very worthwhile charity appeal.”

Tickets for the concert, which starts at 7.30pm, cost £15, including a £1 booking fee, and are available from The Anvil box office on 01256 844244 or through anvilarts.org.uk.
