EVERY musical theatre group needs talent both on stage and behind the scenes.

The Limelight Theatre Group, the youth arm of BAOS (Basingstoke Amateur Operatic Society), is lucky enough to have both in the person of 16 year-old Owen White.

As well as many a cameo performance in Limelight productions (including Eugene in Grease) Owen produces the videos which promote each show via social media. In addition, he has helped with the sound effects for the latest production and chivvies up his fellow Limelighters to promote the group.

Owen, who lives in Hatch Warren and is deputy head boy at Aldworth School, commented: “We all need to pull together and making the videos is great fun. I try to make sure that all the members of the cast are featured because everybody matters in Limelight.

"I just do my bit as best I can. I’ll be organising the after show party this time round.”

Wendy Blackall, Limelight’s marketing manager, added: “Owen completely sums up the whole spirit of Limelight which is that every young member plays their part in making the group a success. He is a real star.”

Owen plays the prince’s steward in Limelight’s half term production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Into the Woods.

See the production on stage at Queen Mary’s Hall, QMC, on October 24 and 25.

At the heart of the story are a baker, his wife and their quest to reverse a witch’s spell. Along the way they meet up with Cinderella, Jack (of beanstalk fame), Rapunzel and Little Red Riding Hood, each of whom has something they need to satisfy the witch’s demands.

If you have ever wondered what happened beyond ‘happily ever after’, you can find out in this fractured fairy tale.
