“ARE there any adults here in costume?” was one of the first questions asked by our host for the afternoon at Sing-a-long-a Frozen in The Anvil.

And of course there were – which immediately made me regret the decision to leave my Olaf onesie at home.

So what happens in a ‘sing-a-long-a’? Well, the audience watches a film – this time Disney’s mega-smash animation from 2013 - as you would do in a cinema or other venue, but with a few added extras to make it a more immersive experience.

For example, you’ll find yourself being encouraged by the stars of the show (played by enthusiastic actors) to cheer on the goodies and boo the baddies. Plus, you’ll be handed a ‘party bag’ with props inside which can be used to add some excitement.

I have to admit this was not my first Sing-a-long-a, having already seen the Wizard of Oz at the same venue in fact, so I knew the bag would be a great source of interest.

I went along with my own five-year-old Anna in full coronation dress, and she loved looking through the snowflake (paper doily), troll (balloon) and plastic clapper, wondering when they would be put to use.

Her favourite prop by far was a party hat that could be tossed aside a la Elsa during the centerpiece performance of Let It Go.

If you have a Frozen fan in your household you are onto an absolute winner with this show – what little girl doesn’t want to dress up, watch a film they love with hundreds of others like them and sing their hearts out for 90 minutes?

And I managed to tolerate it.

I don’t know all the words to the soundtrack or sing along in the car, honest.
