PROTEUS Creation Space brings exciting, contemporary and cutting-edge British theatre to local audiences this month and next.

You can get a taste of the Edinburgh Fringe right here in Basingstoke with How To Make A Killing In Bollywood on Thursday, February 27.

Gaining five star ratings at last year’s Fringe Festival, this brand new comedy follows two best friends as they attempt to pursue their Bollywood fantasies.

The “brilliantly choreographed and superbly acted” (Edinburgh Spotlight) How To Make a Killing In Bollywood is a tale of ambition, hope and friendship punctuated with vibrant Bollywood-style dance numbers and a fantastic soundtrack.

Co-written and directed by regular Proteus actor and collaborator Umar Ahmed, this will be an exciting and hilarious evening of theatre.

The MolinoGroup’s “excellent new play” (Exeunt) Desert will come to the Creation Space on Wednesday March 5. It explores how US Army intelligence analyst Bradley Manning became the centrepiece in the war between WikiLeaks and the US Government after leaking classified documents in 2010.

Desert explores the extraordinary true story of this little-known but hugely significant figure, blending real-life transcripts with imagined events.

Responding to events as they happen, this cutting-edge piece of theatre captures the force of this compelling, contemporary narrative.

And if you’re interested in seeing brand new plays created here in Basingstoke, Under Construction will showcase of work in development by Basingstoke Writers Group on Saturday March 1.

The Proteans will present performed rehearsed readings of brand new short plays, giving you the chance to see how scripts are developed. You can even help shape their future direction!
