THE owners of a Top of The Town bar have applied to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to amend its licence.
Alison and Robert Bates, who own the Rhu Bar, in London Street, have applied to remove a condition on their premises licence which states that customers have to leave the bar at the rear of the building.
Police had called for the bar’s licence to be revoked following a brawl last year which left a man partially blinded.
The borough council’s licensing sub-committee decided to suspend the bar’s licence for two weeks and ruled that Mr Bates should be removed as the Designated Premises Supervisor but he appealed the decision.
The outcome of the appeal is due to be decided tomorrow.
