BASINGSTOKE Live is the annual free two day event taking place in the heart of the town.

The event showcases the best in local artists alongside national and international performers. This year’s line-up sees five stages packed with a mix of music and dance from a huge range of artists. There’s something for everyone!

This week, we take a closer look at what’s happening in the UNPLGD TENT

THE Unplgd Tent, compered once again by the awesome Felix La Revolucion, has a great line up again this year.

Basingstoke Gazette:

Kicking off the Saturday are the brilliant Days Of Fraser (pictured below). You may remember Layla and Jesse’s performance with Charlie’s Mushrooms on the main stage last year.

Basingstoke Gazette:

They will be followed by some more of the best of Basingstoke including Tom Rampton, who has great songs and superb voice which must be heard.

Rough Clarity (below), who played the Unplgd Tent a few years ago, return with their unique mix of acoustic and hip hop.

Basingstoke Gazette:

Also performing is well-known local musician Rob Hayes, a one man band with a passion for steampunk, sloths and circus performers and he’ll be followed by the fabulous Shotgun Chevy and their dirty blues.

Headlining are local heroes The Marvels, making a triumphant return with their finely crafted songs, delicate harmonies and driving rhythm. They’re guaranteed to drip musical honey into your ears!

Also playing: MJ, Nicole Ayah, The Selfies, Simple Squirrel and the Nutters, Paul Dennis, Richard Jacobs, Ollie Brum, Chris Holden.

SUNDAY

Sunday brings yet more of the town’s finest talents to the stage, from Singer Songwriters Chasing Ghosts with their folk/rock edge to Mike Page’s powerful vocals and his personal and energetic set to.

The Leate Sisters, a jazz/funk duo will perform songs from the 1920s up to the 1990s and the very talented Steve Donnelly, a very familiar face across the south who has supported the likes of Fairport Convention, Martin Carthy and Peggy Seeger.

There will also be a new finale for Sunday in the form of an Open Mic/Jam session, giving those who haven’t had the chance to play this year the opportunity as well as those who have played.

So if you can play and want some stage time, go and see Sarah or Martin in the Unplgd Tent on either day of the Basingstoke Live weekend to put your name down. No names will be taken before the weekend.
