A LOCAL jazz musician leads a charity fundraising effort for the Neurofibromatosis Association at Eastleigh’s Concorde Club.
Former Robert May’s pupil and Hook resident 25 year-old saxophonist, Richard Shepherd is now a leading soloist on the London jazz scene and a member of the Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra.
He will be joined by the cream of British jazz on Wednesday, February 23 at 9pm, including sax virtuoso Alan Barnes, trumpet maestro Steve Waterman, the superlative trombonist Mark Nightingale and an internationally acclaimed rhythm section led by pianist Dave Newton.
They will perform an eclectic mix of jazz styles for all tastes, joined by the elegant and versatile vocals of the great Miss Lee Gibson.
The NFA’s previous events have raised enough funds so that an NFA co-ordinator can be based at Princess Anne Hospital, Southampton.
What better way to lift the mood than an evening of brilliant jazz from a dream line-up and knowing Alan Barnes, some entertaining anecdotes too!
Tickets priced £16 for non-diners, £37 for diners, are available from the box office on 023 8061 3989. Full details are online at theconcordeclub.com.
