BASINGSTOKE Live is not just about the music, a spectacular array of dancers will also be dazzling festival-goers on both days.
The free summer event, on July 10 and 11, is mainly about the huge variety of Basingstoke’s musicians, but the town’s dancers will also get their spot in the limelight.
Fairfields Arts Centre is kicking off the festival’s Main Stage events in War Memorial Park on Saturday July 10, at 1pm, with two-and-three-quarter hours of entertainment.
The centre, based in Council Road, Basingstoke, is presenting WorldBeat – Global Moves and Grooves.
The programme features three sections, the Hip Hop House Party in The Park, an Indian Summer section followed by a world music DJ and a performance by Fairfields artist in residence, Olesea Perelighina.
Rosalind Karmazyn, director’s assistant at the centre, said: “The programme celebrates the many different cultures and communities that contribute to Basingstoke, whom we are pleased to work with all year round. There will be 18 different performances.”
More information is available at fairfields.org.
On Sunday, July 12, promoters Next Generation start the day’s proceedings with further dance acts between 12pm and 1.15pm on the main stage, including Chineham Park Primary School, Happy Feet Dance School and Strictly School of Dance.
