THE new house of laughter in Basingstoke was filled with hilarity on its first night.

Jan Jack’s Laughter-House Comedy Club has provided Basingstoke with a host of evenings full of chuckles for more than a decade.

Now in its new residents of the Apollo hotel, the first “Live at the Apollo Hotel” was deemed a huge success by Jan herself.

She said: “I must admit we were a little nervous.

“it's a challenge to set up comedy in a larger venue; but we had a terrific line up which included TV's Nathan Caton and Andrew Ryan and the laughter raised the roof."

With the move to the new venue, Jan hopes to continue to bring some of the brightest up and coming names in comedy to Basingstoke, as well as some well-established stars.

Apollo Hotel manager Paul Fearon added: ““We had a fantastic crowd arrive early to enjoy happy hour.

“Plus all those who loved the comedy curry club. The build-up and anticipation was more than matched by over two hours of fabulous comedy.

Mr Fearon continued: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Jan and Laughter House to bring the best comedy entertainment to our wonderful hotel. Those in attendance had a super evening and can’t wait for the next show.”

The next ”Laughter-House - Live at the Apollo Hotel” show will take place on Thursday, 10 May and will feature Dave Fulton, Sally-Anne Hayward and Jan Jack herself, together with MC Phil Dinsdale.

Tickets cost £15 and available from The Apollo Reception or online through laughterhousecomedy.club
