REGENCY Week has returned to Hampshire with a plethora of Jane Austen-themed events.
The author lived and produced six novels at her home in Chawton, near Alton – now Jane Austen’s House Museum - and Regency Week celebrates the area’s connections with Jane.
Visitors can enjoy an array of music, dance, readings, writing workshops and talks until June 28.
This year’s activities and events include Regency Evensong, music, dining and dancing Regency-style, talks and walks, a writing workshop, and tea and tours at Chawton House (once home to Jane Austen’s brother).
Take a guided walk with local historian Jane Hurst on Saturday, June 27, discovering some of the places that featured in Jane’s life, or enjoy an evening of elegant and entertaining music from her era on Friday, June 26.
The finale comes in the shape of an all-day Victorian Cricket Match and entertainment for all the family on The Butts Green, followed by a Regency Supper celebrating cuisine of the period at The Alton House Hotel.
There will also be a screening of the BBC adaptation of Persuasion, starring Ciaran Hinds and Amanda Root, on Saturday, June 27.
