We take a closer look at some of the events happening in week two of the 2015 Basingstoke Festival

Hundreds of events will take place all over the borough until Sunday, July 12.

Here’s a closer look at just some of the events coming up in week two, between June 25 and July 1:

Roundabout Quilters: The Show – All Saints’ Church

The first display of quilts, wall hangings, bags and cushions made by the members of Roundabout Quilters.

Thread Colour Stitch, Willis Museum

Exhibition celebrating the excellence and diversity of textiles produced by members of the Basingstoke branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild.

Chatroom, Central Studio - June 25 & 26 

Local company In Yer Face Productions present this funny, compelling and uplifting play, which features six teenage characters who communicate only via the internet. Tickets: £3.50 from inyerfaceproductions.co.uk.

Cheese and Chilli Festival, War Memorial Park – Saturday and Sunday, 10am-5pm

Sample and buy local and regional cheeses, chilli-based food and products. There will also be award-winning real ales, cider, wine and lager, plus live music and plenty of entertainment. Admission costs £5 for adults and is free for children.

Sylvanian Families Weekend, Whitchurch Silk Mill – Saturday and Sunday, 10am-4pm

Don’t miss the chance to see your favourite Sylvanian characters performing songs and dances.

SOLFolk, Sherfield on Loddon village Hall – Saturday

A day of dancing and music, including concerts in the village hall, street entertainment, food stalls and a beer festival commencing with a procession at 11am and rounded off by a celebration Ceilidh from 8pm with music provided by the Diatonics Ceilidh Band. An evening festival barn dance, priced £10 per ticket, will take place from 8pm. solfolk.co.uk

Family Sunday, Top of the Town – Sunday

Enjoy Kaveh Rahnama’s Memory Man, Juggling Jake’s circus workshop, Acrojou with Frantic, Sandy Kendall’s street chalking group project, The Wire Girls’ bird sculpture craft workshops, a dinosaur hat with the Hampshire Cultural Trust team, Scratchbuilt Productions’ children’s stories, junk percussion workshops with Drum Runners, walkabout act Molly Orange, BATS Next Gen and History Bombs, a highly entertaining theatrical romp through the history of aviation followed by the history of World War 1.

Anyday, Creation Space – Saturday, June 27, 11am & 4pm

Dream Sequence, Creation Space – Wednesday, 7.30pm

All the Nice Girls, Proteus, Creative Garage at Springpark House, Basing View – Friday, 7.30pm

This charming new show looks at the careers of forgotten variety artists through the eyes of male impersonator Ella Shields. Tickets priced £6 can be purchased at wegottickets.com/proteustheatre or by dropping into the Proteus Creation Space in Council Road.

Before the Leaves Have Fallen, United Reformed Church – Monday and Tuesday

New WWI play by Sarah Brown about the residents of one street and their experiences both on the battlefield and back at home – the fighting, the new technology, the role of women, conscientious objectors and underage soldiers and the stories of those for whom the war never really ended.
