AUTHOR Oliver Double will come to Basingstoke Discovery Centre this month to talk about the comedians, singers, dancers, acrobats, magicians, ventriloquists and other speciality acts who made variety what it was.
Oliver, head of drama at the University of Kent, has written a book on the subject, entitled of Britain Had Talent: A History of Variety Theatre.
He has also written two books on his experiences as a stand up comedian.
Meet him in the Festival Place library on Saturday, August 30 at 2pm.
