WINCHESTER Cathedral opens its doors to boys aged 6-10 who enjoy singing at a Be A Chorister open afternoon on October 12.
After an afternoon spent rehearsing with the Choristers under the guidance of national voice coach Hilary Jones, the boys will have the rare opportunity to sing the anthem with the Cathedral Choir at Evensong.
Rehearsals will take place from 1.45pm at The Pilgrims’ School, the Cathedral school attended by the Choristers, with the chance for the boys to play football and let off steam in the school’s popular adventure playground.
Parents, family and friends are all invited to come and hear the boys’ musical presentation in the North Transept at 4.15pm, with refreshments served afterwards. The day ends with Evensong at 5.30pm.
Everything is free, but early booking is recommended as spaces will be limited.
This year’s choral auditions for boys aged 7 to 10 will take place on Saturday, November 16 for entry in September 2014.
