GILBERT White’s Tea Parlour in Hampshire has won an Award of Excellence in The Tea Guild’s highly coveted Top Tea Place Awards 2013.

Now in its 28 th year, the awards are considered the Michelin star of the tea world with the best tea venues in Britain competing for recognition of outstanding quality and consistently high standards in tea service.

The judges awarded points for the variety, flavour and knowledge of the teas offered at the Selbourne venue, together with the quality of food, service, décor, ambience, and presentation.

Head of The Tea Guild Irene Gorman said: “Each year the standard of entrants for the awards continues to scale new heights, making the judges’ task of choosing those who achieve an Award of Excellence extremely challenging and this year’s competition was no exception.

“This Award of Excellence to Gilbert White’s Tea Parlour was presented in recognition of consistently high standards of tea making and customer service, evident in the care and attention to detail with which afternoon tea was prepared and served.”
