TEAS in church: The Missions and Charities Group at the parish church take over with Sunday teas during August from 2pm to 5pm, and money raised will go to the Mission Aviation Fellowship.
ROMAN dig this year: Will be at two locations, inside the Roman walls and on the Iron Age fort at Pond Farm, in Benyons Enclosure, in Mortimer West End. Visitors will be welcome weekdays only from 10am to 4.30pm. The dates are August 17 to September 13.
There will be an open day on the last date; there will be no weekend work this season.
SILCHESTER Association: Welcome everyone to a picnic on the common on August 31. Bring your own picnic from noon to 4pm.
OPEN garden: On Saturday, from 2pm to 6pm, at West Silchester Hall, along the lane by the village hall.
Plants and paintings are on sale, and tea in aid of St Michael’s Hospice.
BEER Festival: Note the date, September 12. Tickets on sale at The Calleva Arms and Jay’s Stores, Pamber Heath, from August 13.
