HAMPSHIRE Alert: I am always getting details of various scams that are doing the rounds in the area.

Over recent months I have been advising people to register with the hampshirealert.co.uk website to keep themselves up-to-date with these.

However, there are quite a few people who do not have computers and therefore no internet access.

How we get this information to these to people is difficult, some scammers send long letters advising the recipient they have won huge amounts of money, others offer services which seem far too good to be true, whilst others go to great lengths to persuade people to part with personal financial information.

The best advice is that if you have not entered it, you cannot win it; if you have not ordered it, you are not expecting it so why give out personal information.

More than ever today, there is no such thing as a “free lunch”, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. It always saddens me to hear someone has been scammed, don’t let this be you.
