BEER Festival: Is being held this Saturday.

Tickets £11, includes two drinks, a light supper and Silchester tankard. Tickets available from Jays Stores and the Calleva Arms.

RIDE and Stride: Takes place throughout Hampshire on Saturday, from 10am to 6pm. St Mary’s will be open with tea and biscuits in the morning and full teas from 2pm to 5pm.

HARVEST festivities: This Sunday, there’s a Family Harvest Service in church at the later time of 10.30am, followed by lunch in the barn at the Old Manor House.

This will end at 2.30pm with a return to church to hear talks on the history of the church by Robina Rand, and more on the present day from Michael Cole. Teas served until 5pm.

BARK spread: Help is needed from 10am on Saturday, to improve the playground. So many children benefit, let’s keep it safe for them.

CONGRATULATIONS: To Hannah Smith (aged 10) on winning the National under-10 tennis final in Bournemouth. Hannah also won the girls doubles with her partner Andrea, from Middlesex.
