“COFFEE break”: Today, from 10.30am-noon, at the Methodist Hall, in The Street.
CARNIVAL news: Preparations are well in hand for the “Cartoon Characters” carnival on June 21, held as usual, in the recreation ground from 2pm. The procession, which is free to enter, has a best float prize of £100. Birds of prey will be flying twice, and many different craft stalls are booking in the marquee. Old and interesting vehicles will also be displayed.
PLANT Fairs: Two this weekend – the first is for the Poppy Appeal, in the RBL Hall, on Saturday, from 10am-2pm, and the second is on Sunday, from 10.30am-noon, in the Riley Lane Allotments.
THE Annual Parish Meeting: Takes place on Thursday, May 15, at 7.30pm in St Mary's Parish Room.
Lieutenant-Colonel Waite-Roberts, a local military historian, will be speaking on “Remembering those who served” – a talk on First World War memorials.
CHANGE of date: The RBL Women’s Section meeting is now on Wednesday, May 21, a change from Thursday due to elections. Sue Walsh will be demonstrating fruit and vegetable carving from 7.30pm.
