MEMBERS enjoyed a dabble evening at their August meeting.

They were able to try their hands at several crafts with a Christmas theme, thus getting some ideas in advance for the Christmas season.

The crafts included hand-made Christmas cards, seasonal flower arrangements, crochet and needlepoint and many went home really pleased with their efforts and with inspiration to continue.

The many forthcoming events will make it a busy autumn.

These include two skittles evenings, one arranged by group and one to select the team to represent Oakley and Deane in the group competition, an afternoon tea at Warbook House, in Eversley, the Federation group quiz final, a trip to and guided tour of the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford and a visit to the Bodleian Library, a trip to the Olympic sites and the autumn group meeting, when James Montgomery will be the guest speaker with a talk entitled ‘Lights, Camera, Action, My 30 Years of TV Stories’.

At the September meeting, Karen Berry will be giving a talk entitled ‘Thrift to Therapy – Patchwork and Quilting’ and guests will be most welcome.

The meeting will be at the usual venue of the village hall, in Andover Road, on the second Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm.
