BEER Festival: Gilly says: “Our village hall hosted the sixth Beer Festival last Saturday, raising funds for both St Michael’s Hospice and Sherfield Village Hall charities.

There was a tasty range of ales, beers and ciders, and delicious food was served.

The live bands are always a major attraction and this year included Lex Rose, 45RPM, No Way Out and Whiskey Bottom Road.

The sun shone and it was a fabulous family day, helped along by the team of volunteers who worked hard to make sure everyone enjoyed themselves. I ordered 804 souvenir glasses and they all went!”

DISCO!: On Saturday, October 12, there’s a 1960s and 1970s disco. Don’t forget to dig out your flares, Mary Quant minis and kipper ties and strut your stuff from 7.45pm until 11pm (doors open at 7pm). Tickets are £10 and can be bought from The Shop, 01256 880075 or via tickets@sherfield villagehall.co.uk.

COFFEE time: The Macmillan Coffee morning, last Friday at my house, raised a fantastic £277.18. Thank you so much to all who came (about 35 people), especially those who donated cakes.
