BASING House: This coming weekend, the English Civil War Society will be involved in living history displays and skirmishes.

On Tuesday, the Friends of Basing House meet at 7.30pm in the Visitor Centre for the first winter lecture.

COFFEE mornings: “First Friday” is today, at 14 Little Fallow, Lychpit, and “Coffee Break” is Friday, October 11, at the Methodist Church, both from 10.30am-noon.

THE Bakehouse: Exploring a new venture, Hilma and Jan will serve traditional breakfasts, with newspapers, on Sundays, from 10am.

VILLAGE Hall news: The recent jumble sale raised £570, so many thanks to all involved. Summer expenditure totalled almost £8,000 on re-decorating, floor treatment, lighting improvements, new cooker hood with extractor and repairs.

Eleven local organisations will each receive £150 from carnival profits, to be presented at the AGM on October 16 at 8pm.
