A VALENTINE’S evening went with a swing – thanks to a firm of Basingstoke-based funeral directors.

L Titcombe & P J Murray Independent Funeral Directors, at Elmwood Parade, Winklebury, organised a Valentine’s dance to raise funds for St Mary’s Church in Kingsclere, St Paul’s in Ashford Hill, and St Peter’s in Headley.

Peter Murray entertained a capacity audience with a fabulous set of swing music, using his stage name of Paul Martin.

The dancefloor was full from start to finish with the crowd asking for more as he sang classic rock ’n’ roll hits.

The event was held at St Paul’s Church in Ashford Hill, which was decorated for the evening by Peter's boss Lorraine Titcombe, and her daughter Vicky.

Peter said “We were delighted with the way the evening went. The audience thoroughly enjoyed themselves and a good amount of money was raised for the churches – over £1,000 – thanks to the generosity of those attending.”
